There has been significant momentum in the Ron Paul compaign lately...
- Won first place in the recent New Hampshire straw poll hosted by the Coalition for New Hampshire Taxpayers.
- The strongest presence of supporters in the Ames parade.
- A robust and well attended, 1,000+, Iowa rally to counter exclusion from that other event, whatever it was ;)
- Second place finish in a Georgia GOP straw-poll.
- Coverage of fundraising success over rival John McCain from virtually every MSM outlet.
- Fourth place placement in a California GOP straw-poll with 12%.
- Second place finish in Utah GOP straw-poll.
- Continued and growing dominance in all online measures of support: internet traffic, online donations, blogs, polls, youtube.com, meetup.com subscriber numbers etc.

That's all in the past two months, coming from virtually nowhere!
There is absolutely every reason to believe that this momentum is only the beginning and that the Ron Paul campaign will only be taken more seriously by the mainstream. Yes, the attacks have become more vicious. But, it's becoming nearly passe to refer to Paul as a long-shot or 'fringe'... that will be coming to an end soon.
The competition especially in the GOP has absolutely nothing to offer. They'll even admit that they're all the same. Their current advantage over Paul, name recognition, is fading as his name grows...
As soon as people realize that Rudy McRompson, that is if ol' Fred is foolish enough to get in the fray, represent exactly the sort of policies embodied by the current administration, policies that are incredibly unpopular among the general public, just look at the polls.
The GOP, itself will either smarten up and get behind Paul or die by the sword... The political analysts aren't saying it yet, but they will...Paul needs to be the GOP's man for them to have any chance in the general election...

Blowback and The Politics of Exclusion
A famed Southern author by the name of Samuel Clemens once wrote, "Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it." This world-renowned son of the South, popularly known by his pen name, Mark Twain, was full of such wisdom. In one of his most famous novels the protagonist, a character meant to embody the very spirit of America, stated, "My kind of loyalty was loyalty to one's country, not to its institutions or its office-holders. "
Sadly, it seems that this notion of patriotism tempered by a health skepticism toward government is all but forgotten in the New South, if recent events in South Carolina are any indication. Yes, we're speaking of proud South Carolina, the erstwhile hotbed of Independence that once possessed such a deeply ingrained distrust of the federal government that they fired the opening salvo in a war of rebellion against it. In recent times we have seen how much that has changed, and nothing makes that clearer than the news last week that the chairman of the Spartanburg County GOP Committee announced his intention to exclude a wildly popular Republican presidential candidate from all party functions in the county.

With Honor Ron Paul Stands Alone
I guess I’ve known Ron Paul for a quarter of a century now, and I don’t remember how we met. My first memory of him is a quiet dinner on Capitol Hill, during the Reagan years. He told me with dry humor of being the only member of Congress to vote against some bill Reagan wanted passed. For Ron it was a matter of principle, and he was under heavy pressure to change his vote.
What amused him was that the Democrats didn’t mind his voting against it; all the pressure came from his fellow Republicans, professed conservatives, who were embarrassed that anyone should actually stand up for their avowed principles when it was unpopular to do so.
That was Ron Paul for you. Still is. The whole country is getting to know him now, and the Republicans still want to get rid of him. The party’s hacks, led by Newt Gingrich, have even tried in vain to destroy him in his own Texas district.
They’re right, in a way. He doesn’t belong in a party that has made conservative a synonym for destructive. George Will calls him a “useful anachronism” because he actually believes, as literally as circumstances permit, in the U.S. Constitution. In his unassuming way, without priggery or histrionics, he stands alone.

Recapturing the Spirit of Independence, by Ron Paul
This week Americans will gather around the grill, attend parades and watch fireworks displays, all in the celebration of the signing of our Declaration of Independence. At the same time, we will have thousands of bureaucrats, troops and agents stationed in countries across the globe being paid by American tax dollars.
On the anniversary of our declaring our own independence from the British, it is certainly appropriate that we reflect on the nature and spirit of independent nationhood. While our founding fathers were individual men in a historically unique situation, they posited that the principles upon which they rested our national independence were timeless.

Ron Paul Speaks to 1,000 in Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA – Presidential candidate Ron Paul held a rally today celebrating life and liberty at the Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines, Iowa. The event was held immediately after and next door to a Republican candidates forum sponsored by the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief. Dr. Paul was the only GOP candidate excluded from the forum, so his campaign organized an event of its own. Despite being planned in less than a week, Dr. Paul's event singlehandedly outdrew the other forum and its six participating candidates by several hundred attendees.
"Today, Ron Paul demonstrated how deeply his message of freedom and limited government is resonating across the nation," said campaign manager Lew Moore.
Dr. Paul, addressing a packed room, received thunderous applause many times and as well as several standing ovations. Observers believe that this event was the biggest rally for a Republican candidate in Iowa during this campaign cycle.
"Ron Paul has generated more grassroots excitement and support than any other candidate in the race," continued Moore. "The campaign is building on this momentum around the country as we drive toward the nomination."
